CeBIT 2009: NAVIGON MyRoutes: personalised navigation with a learning effect One of the …

Route planning that considers individual driving styles, the day of the week and the time of day: with the MyRoutes feature, NAVIGON is the first manufacturer to include personalised route guidance in its new range of projects. This feature is pre-installed in all devices of the new product range, which will be presented at CeBIT 2009. The activation of MyRoutes allows navigation devices to take the personal driving style of the user into account when recommending routes. Route recommendations are based on the personal driving behaviour of the user, the day of the week, and the time of day. MyRoutes always shows the best possible route for the driver on the basis of his or her driving behaviour and by means of an optical “MyRoute” indicator. In addition to this recommended route, up to two alternatives are displayed. An overview of the alternative routes is displayed on the map and listed on the display screen with the respective arrival time and journey duration. This increases transparency and allows the driver to select one of the other routes instead of the recommended NAVIGON route if preferred. In this way, MyRoutes always provides the best route in line with the needs of the user, yet still allows the driver to make a free choice.
Right from the start of the journey, the navigation device collects the individual data of the driver and uses it to overwrite the average values defined in the system. The MyRoutes function constantly learns from collected data and thus adapts to the driving behaviour of the user.
As a result, NAVIGON is reinventing dynamic and personalised route planning, providing intelligent navigation with a learning effect. “With MyRoutes, we are starting a whole new chapter in route recommendation” says Jörn Watzke, Vice President Product Line Management at NAVIGON.

“By providing the best possible route for the driver whilst displaying feasible alternatives in a clear, colour-coded manner, we are able to provide the optimum level of transparency in route planning.”

Making the most of potential fuel savings
Thanks to the personal touch brought to navigation by MyRoutes in all NAVIGON systems in the new product range, drivers can make the most of the new potential for individual route planning. The increasing individualisation of route recommendations gives clever drivers an extremely useful tool for saving fuel during their journeys.
