CEATEC Japan 2009: Japan Women's University to Give Presentations at CEATEC JAPAN 2009

Japan Women’s University is engaged in research and development as part of the NEDO university project application development research project for work on the fast recognition optical correlator (FARCO). This is a system that combines hologram memory capable of high-speed playback of large amounts of data and of calculations using optical correlations, and it can simultaneously read data while performing correlation (inner product) calculations.

What would, for example, require upwards of tens of gigabits per second in a current computer for data transfer speed and CPU processing power for correlation calculation would take the FARCO, using matched filtering in its optical holographic memory, just a few megabits per second to determine the optical strength value’s corollary value.

This presentation will touch on the current status and future developments for FARCO using its holographic optical disc. We will also introduce a FARCO application, a video authentication system, FReCs.
